Like where the name "Back for Seconds" came from, a few more posts about editors, and a couple other things. Also for some reason a lot of the variables are defined in scientific notation, not sure why but maybe to get a very precise small number? Your guess is as good as mine.Īlso, been meaning to put this here, but on an old dingogames blog, there's a post about a level editor used to make the game, and even a picture of a test level in the editor! Įdit: There's actually a few more posts about Tasty Planet on that blog. The variables themselves are probably leftovers from when they ported Tasty Planet 2 to steam, presumably porting all the levels to a new version of the engine with water support. I tried changing the waterlevel variable and it didn't seem to do anything, might experiment with it more. I'm surprised (and glad) that people still pay attention to this game even though it's been out for quite a while now. It also makes the movement kind of awkward for some reason.Įdit: There's also a waterlevel variable, not sure what it does though. Thus the landscapes are constantly changing and your tasks get increasingly more interesting, not to mention more challenging.Originally posted by RadioactiveTurtle:New discovery, found a variable called "sidescroll" changing false to true makes the level act like a Tasty Blue level where there's a certain water level that you fall back down from after going out of it. In the end, Tasty Planet: Back for Seconds features a hefty collection of levels, thanks to the multiple time periods you get to visit along the way. Plenty of content to keep you entertained In addition, a nice soundtrack keeps the mood at a steady pace, together with the wacky sound effects. Do not expect anything out of the ordinary when it comes to lighting and shading, but the colors are very lively and engaging. Moreover, the missions are clear and simple to grasp, even if they might prove difficult from a technical point of view.Ī lot of work went into the visual aspect of the game as well, in order to make the environments more appealing and the characters more enjoyable. You only need to use your mouse and the occasional keyboard button in order to perform the desired actions, which is as straightforward as it gets. To make the concept more attractive, the developers have made the game extremely simple to play and understand. Hence, you get to explore the Cretaceous and nibble on dinosaurs, ancient Egypt to get a taste of mummies, as well as the future, where entire star systems are on the menu. You grow bigger and bigger, until you are able to swallow a thing that is a hundred. You are able and must eat everything that is smaller than you. ![]() The entire purpose of the game is to eat stuff, in fact, which means that the majority of the time spent playing is dedicated to finding food, which in this case can be basically anything from single-celled organisms, to entire galaxies.Īs it happens, the story starts when the grey goo portrayed by you manages to eat a time machine, which now allows the hungry fellow to travel between different time periods and satisfy his cravings. Tasty Planet: Back for Seconds developed by Dingo Games has you playing as small but very hungry grey goo thing who is take part in a scientific experiment. Tasty Planet: Back for Seconds is a fun arcade game in which you assume the role of a ball of grey goo, which is quite capable of eating and growing to respectable sizes. Survive in a cruel world by eating anything you can swallow ![]() As far as Hollywood taught us, on the other hand, alien life forms would not be encumbered with such self-preservation mechanisms, which means that they could eat forever. Is there any way to fix this outside of the game or a shortcut for changing the resolution Otherwise this is unplayable. I cant see any of the rest of the screen so I cant change the resolution in game. However, most life forms have mechanisms to warn them when the amount of food ingested is enough, in order to avoid suffering nasty side effects. I started this game and it started in the way wrong resolution so much so that all I can see is the bottom left corner with the exit button. Eating is a natural and a mandatory part of life, because acquiring nutrients and energy is vital for living organisms.
